USS Casimir Pulaski (SSBN-633)

The Story Of A Cold War Warrior

All The News That's Fit To Print

Welcome to the reunions and meetings page!  Any information I have about a Casimir Pulaski reunion will be presented here.  This page will be updated periodically as and when I get information so be sure to check back often.  These reunions do not plan themselves and we are extremely grateful to have loving, dedicated shipmates who donate their time (and in some cases money) to plan our wonderful reunions.  Be sure to thank them occassionally:  Keith Post, Mike Emerson, Bill Roup, Mike Brand, Brenda Brand, Bruce Whealton, Denise Whealton.  If I've forgotten someone, please drop me a line.  Also thank you to our keynote speakers who in some instances were "recruited" to speak at a moment's notice and did a fantastic job.  And lastly, a hearty thank you to the tons of folks that donated door prizes for raffles, drawings, door prizes, etc.

First Reunion

Well, the first official reunion for the crew and families of USS Casimir Pulaski SSBN-633 took place on July 21st to July 23rd at King's Bay, Georgia.  Around 47 crewmembers and their families attended.  Attendee's included 7 plank owner crew and one crewmember who was on the Pulaski's last patrol.  The main meal was barbeque pork/chicken.  Activities included a tram tour of downtown historic St. Marys, free admission to Orange Hall and the Submarine Museum.  Capt. McKinnon (base commander, Naval Submarine Base King's Bay and 1980's Pulaski crewmember) gave a speech as our keynote speaker.  A vote was taken and the results were for the next reunion to be held in 2008 in Charleston, South Carolina.

Fourth Reunion (Cancelled)

Due to unforseen circumstances, the fourth official SSBN-633 reunion has been cancelled.  There is no alternate location planned.  There will not be a reunion in 2012.  The crew's voting preferences at previous reunions has been to hold a reunion every two years.  Based on that precident, the fourth reunion will take place in 2014.  The decision to cancel was not based on any actions by the Lane County Travel or Valley River Inn staff.  Both Juanita Metzler and Kya Groves went out of their way to cater to our needs and stay within our desired price range.   Thank you to our West coast shipmates who worked to get a West coast reunion and to those who assisted in the location selection, etc.  Again; apologies for the short notice and sometime next year we'll start talking about the fourth reunion again.

Fourth Reunion

The fourth reunion took place in Charleston, South Carolina.  Attendee's included plank owners and a good selection of 1960's, 1970's and 1980's crew.  The decision was made to hold the fifth reunion sometime in 2016 in Galveston, Texas.  The photo gallery contains photos taken at this reunion.
